The reagent was made against an isolate of Pelargonium peltatum (S. Winter, personal communication) and specifically reacts with PLPV in DAS-ELISA (2). The virus can generally be detected reliably in P. zonale throughout the year. In P. peltatum, however, virus distribution is uneven. The reliability is improved in tests of petioles compared to leaf blades (lamina) (1). Samples are homogenised 1:20 (w/v) in extraction buffer «General» (Art. No. 110120). The product is based on antibodies developed by the Leibniz Institute DSMZ GmbH, Braunschweig, Germany.
