RABBIT ANTI RCAN1

Rabbit anti Human RCAN1 antibody recognizes calcipressin-1, also known as DSC1, Down syndrome critical region gene 1, calcium and oxidant-inducible mRNA, modulatory calcineurin-interacting protein 1 or myocyte-enriched calcineurin-interacting protein 1 near DSCR proline-rich protein.

The protein encoded by RCAN1 gene interacts with calcineurin A and inhibits calcineurin-dependent signaling pathways, possibly affecting central nervous system development. RCAN1 is located in the minimal candidate region for the Down syndrome phenotype, and is overexpressed in the brain of Down syndrome fetuses. Chronic overexpression of RCAN1 may lead to neurofibrillary tangles such as those associated with Alzheimer disease. Three transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for RCAN1 (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008).

Rabbit anti Human RCAN1 antibody detects a band of 24 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates.
